About
Who We Are and Why We Cover Economics This Way
Riverypixel is an independent economics news outlet based in Chiang Rai, Thailand, reporting in plain English since 2019.

What We Do and Who We Serve
Riverypixel exists to make economic reporting legible to readers who are intelligent but not specialist economists.
Riverypixel publishes factual reporting and data-grounded analysis of Thailand's economy, with a particular focus on developments that affect the northern region. We cover five core beats: macro-economy, business, the labor market, fiscal and monetary policy, and household budgets. Our audience includes professionals working in business, public administration, and education in Thailand, as well as international readers — researchers, journalists, and development practitioners — who need a reliable English-language window into Thai economic conditions. We are based in Mueang Chiang Rai and have been publishing continuously since 2019. In that time we have produced more than 340 original articles and explainers, covering everything from the impact of drought on northern Thai agriculture to the structural consequences of Thailand's demographic slowdown. Our readership spans 47 countries, though the majority of our regular readers are based in Thailand, the United Kingdom, and Australia. We do not write for specialists who already understand the subject. We write for the intelligent non-specialist who wants to understand Thailand's economic reality without first acquiring a degree in economics.
How We Work — and What We Do Not Do
Our process is transparent. Our scope is deliberate. Our limits are honest.
Every article at Riverypixel begins with a verifiable primary source: an official statistics release, a published central-bank report, a peer-reviewed study, or a documented government announcement. Our editors cross-check figures before publication and link to source documents wherever possible. We do not paraphrase official language — we translate it into clear English and explain the assumptions behind it. Our team is deliberately small: a founding editor, two staff writers, and a data researcher, all based in Chiang Rai. We operate without advertising from financial-services companies, and we do not accept sponsored content. That limits our revenue, but it preserves editorial independence on topics where financial interests can distort coverage. There are things we do not do, and readers should understand these limits. We do not predict market movements or asset prices. We do not recommend investments or financial products of any kind. We do not publish content on cryptocurrency, foreign-exchange trading, or speculative instruments. Economic analysis is inherently uncertain: where outcomes depend on future policy decisions, global conditions, or incomplete data, we say so explicitly rather than projecting false confidence. Our goal is to give readers a clearer understanding of how the Thai economy works — not to tell them what to do with that understanding.
“Riverypixel is one of a small number of English-language outlets I recommend to postgraduate students who want to understand the Thai economy without relying on wire-service summaries. The labor market coverage in particular is consistently grounded in actual data rather than received wisdom. The explainer on informal employment in Q3 2023 was genuinely useful teaching material.”
